This is a lame work around that only works for your authenticated user only :-(
I hacked this together over an hour in response to Aral's tweet.
I've been following up on an issue on the Twitter API, but they've just recently decided to move the in_reply_to_status_id query to the next version of the API - hence this hack - which only works for your tweets.
